Rounding Options Screen
The Rounding Rules Screen allows you to change the desired rounding scheme or create a new custom scheme. To change the active rounding scheme, click the Rounding Scheme Dropdown list and select the scheme you would like to use. Cant find one you like - build you own.

Schemes and Strategies
An important part of your Pricing Strategy is the implementation or non-implementation of rounding schemes. Each Strategy Step can have its own rounding scheme assigned to it. Also, each Sku Level Exception, and Custom Group can also be assigned their own rounding scheme.
When rounding is applied - it is critical that you are aware of the Force Rounding setting on the Rounding Tab on the Margin Master Screen. The Price Rounding Tab not only determines if Rounding will be used, but what rounding scheme will be used and if the rounding rules will be Forced on all prices. It's easy enough to understand that If you do not want to use rounding - simply select Do Not Use Rounding. This works for each level of your Pricing Strategy as well. But when rounding is in effect, we have some other options. First, we must chose the desired rounding scheme. Second, we must decide if we want to Force rounding. Changes in these settings can greatly affect the results you obtain. Try them out - and determine the method that best suits your needs.
By design, Margin Master does NOT apply rounding to a fixed price level. So, if you tell Margin Master to set the Future Price to Level 2, it will do just that - without rounding. In order to round the prices, users could then apply another Future Price change setting the Future Price equal to the Rounded Future Price - effectively rounding the Level 2 Price.
Another important piece of Rounding and Pricing Strategies is the ability to quickly change the default rounding scheme used in your existing strategy rules. This can quickly be done using the Tools | Force all Active Selections to Rounding Scheme option. Using this option you can quickly set the rounding scheme to use. If you only want to change a few items, make sure that only the rules you want to change are Active, then use the menu option.
The ability to force rounding on individual rules can also be changed using the Tools | Set Forced Rounding Option Menu. This also will only affect Active rules. These same options are also available in the Sku Level Exception Screen. Keep in mind though that by definition, Plugged Retails will NEVER have rounding applied.
Rounding CHECK
When reviewing the Price Rounding Check Screen, other than being able to see each price point, you can quickly compare the total number of price points between this and other schemes. Make sure each of the resulting price points is what you desire.

How Does it Work
The Rounding Scheme works in stages.
- Round Down - The ability to Round Prices Down is easy to accomplish in Margin Master. Simply enter the price range and the desired round down amount. The only thing to remember when using round down is that it will be applied before the other rounding rules affect the price. Therefore, any price being rounded will first be compared to the Round Down rules and adjusted if needed. This new round down retail determined by your setting will then have the rest of the rounding rules applied.
Right of the Decimal - The top section lists how rounding will be applied to the right side of the decimal point. The price to be rounded is first compared to the range of prices on the left to find the correct range. Once the range is identified, the value to the right of the decimal can be rounded up to the next appropriate price point.
Left of the Decimal - The bottom section determines how the first digit to the left of the decimal point will be rounded. Again - the price to be rounded is first compared to the range of prices on the left to find the correct range. Once the range is identified, the value to the left of the decimal can be rounded up to the next appropriate digit.
Rollback Digit - Rollback digits are the final stage in rounding. Most rounding does not use a rollback digit, but it is provided to allow for some special circumstances. Lets say we want a rounding scheme where we would like all of our closeout items to end in a 7. We would simply set the rollback digit to 7 - then any time rounding is applied - if the last digit is a 9, it will Rollback to the rollback digit - or in this case - a 7. The use of rollback digits is easy by assigning the appropriate rounding scheme to one of the Pricing Strategy Rules. That way - everything else can still follow a more conventional rounding scheme.
Creating A New Scheme
One of the easiest ways to create a new scheme is to copy an existing scheme by clicking copy. You will be asked to enter the name of your new scheme - then you can edit the scheme as desired. For something completely different, Click New to create an empty new scheme. Again, you will need to enter the scheme name. but then you can enter all of your desired ranges and price points. When making a new scheme, make sure to click Check occasionally to ensure you are achieving the desired results.
Import/Export Rounding Schemes
The ability to Import and Export Rounding Schemes is available in the File Menu at the top of the screen. The easiest way to learn the structure of the Import File is to create a sample Rounding Scheme and Export it to a file. Review the file and you should be able to determine the proper setup for creating an Import File.
When importing, the current Scheme will be deleted and replaced with the new scheme.
Rounding Pitfalls
A problem with rounding is that it doesn't care about a Sku's relationship to other Sku's. Since it is only looking at the price to be rounded - there are some cases where rounding may produce undesirable results. For example - Speed-bor drill bits have stepped pricing to allow a logical increase in price from one size to the next. Applying a rounding scheme to this could destroy the properly stepped pricing that existed. Again we need to look toward Pricing Strategies to apply a rule that will enforce pricing integrity across these types of items.
