Exporting inventory data from the SpruceWare.NET system
Once you’ve installed Margin Master, the first thing you’ll want to do is to get inventory details from the Spruce system into a file properly formatted for Margin Master’s import tools. Spruce has written a Crystal Report specifically for this purpose. It’s called the Margin Master File Export Report and is available at no charge to all SpruceWare.NET users through the customer area of the Spruce website, support.sprucecomputer.com: If you’re not sure how to load and use the report from the website into your copy of Crystal Reports, please follow the instructions in the “Crystal Reports Database Connections” document (also available on the reports downloads page in the customer area of the Spruce website). When you run the report, you will be prompted for branch location (“All Branches” is an option as well) and for a starting group / section and ending group / section. Once the report data has been generated, export it to an Excel spreadsheet. This is done by choosing File / Export / Export Report / Microsoft Excel and clicking OK. Check the “Custom” option, then check the “Export page headers and footer” and “Simplify page headers” options and click OK. Name the file and put it in the Margin Master directory, which is typically C:\MARGINMASTER.
