Custom Groups Screen
Custom Groups is yet another way Margin Master can help you to organize your Skus into an effective Pricing Strategy. Custom Groups can be added, edited, and deleted at any time. Skus can belong to as many groups as needed.

Finding the Custom Group Screen
The Custom Group Screen is conveniently located in all of the places you will need to access it from. From the Margin Master Main Menu Screen, click Tools | Manage Custom Groups (Ctrl-G). In the Margin Master Screen, click Strategy | Manage Custom Groups (Ctrl-G). Finally, in the Pricing Strategy Screen, click Tools| Manage Custom Groups (Ctrl-G). Using the Crtl-G shortcut is probably the easiest way to quickly jump to the Custom Groups Screen.
There are only two other ways so far to get to Custom Groups. By right clicking any Sku in the Sku listing section of the Margin Master Screen, you can easily follow the pop-up menu to Custom Groups. Finally, from the Sku Detail Screen, you can go to the Custom Groups Screen by clicking on of the Custom Group Buttons.
With all of these options - Custom Groups are at your fingertips.
Creating New Groups
Adding a new Custom Group is as easy as clicking the first line in the Custom Group Listing. Enter a unique name for the new Custom Group as show below. A description can be added if desired. Also, if known, a Pricing Strategy can be created at this time. If you are not sure what the Pricing Strategy will be for this group, no problem - it can be edited later
Editing an Existing Group
By selecting any group from the Group List and clicking Edit - or Double Clicking the name - the Custom Group Edit Screen shown here will appear. Make the desired changes and click Save.
Creating the Group Pricing Strategy
Either when the group is originally created or when editing a group, you can create a Pricing Strategy Rule for the Group. Understand that this rule will be applied to All Skus in the group when the Pricing Strategy is Executed. Group Rules can be Plugged Retails, Plugged Margins, or Plugged Deviations. Rounding is also available so a certain rounding scheme can be applied as part of the group rule.
Note: A Plugged Retail of $0.00 will effectively create a group of Skus that will not have their pricing maintained by Margin Master. This is because anything with a Future Price equal to zero is not considered to have a price change.
Adding Skus to the Group
After the group has been created - Skus are added from the Custom Group Listing screen shown above. Click the line in the Sku Listing Section and type your Skus. Press Enter between each Sku you wish to Add.
Of course Store Number is also important. For multi-store owners - a Sku can belong to a Custom Group from one store and not the other. Also, Skus can be added for All stores. The Store can be changed by selecting the dropdown list in the store column. Each new Sku Added will use the previously entered store number as a default. Also, right clicking the Store Heading allows you to make a global change to the Skus assigned to the store.
Hierarchy
Just like everything else in Pricing Strategy - sequence is critical. The same holds true in Custom Groups. You can utilize the Move up/Move Down buttons to rearrange the Custom Groups to the desired order. Custom Groups also have their own place in the overall Pricing Strategy. Just as Sku Level Exceptions are always assigned the final step in the strategy, Custom Groups are always assigned the second to last step - just above Sku Level Exceptions.
When reviewing your Pricing Strategy using the Pricing Strategy Manager - you will not see any Custom Groups until a Custom Group has actually been created.
Active/Inactive
Also like the rest of Pricing Strategy - by toggling the Active/Inactive box, Groups can easily be included/excluded from execution as part of the pricing strategy.
Group Copy
Custom Groups can easily be copied to a new custom group. Simply click Copy and enter the new group name. After a copy is made, changes to either group will be independent of the other group. This can be useful if you have a group of Skus that you want to apply one rule for one store, and another rule in another store. Same Skus - Different Rule!
Import/Export Custom Groups
The ability to Import and Export Custom Groups is available in the Tools Menu at the top of the screen. The easiest way to learn the structure of the Import File is to create a sample Custom Group and Export the file. Review the file and you should be able to determine the proper setup for creating an Import File.
The file must be a CSV (Comma Separated Values) and must contain only two columns Sku and Store. No verification is done to ensure the Skus in the Import File are in the Store Database.
When importing, you will be given the option to remove existing Group Skus before processing the import file. If you do not remove the existing group Skus, new group Skus will be added to the group list. Any duplication of Skus will not be imported.
Mass Changes
Both the Sku Listing and Group Listing can have mass changes applied by right clicking the appropriate header.
