Activant Step By Step

This document will walk you through, step by step, using Margin Master with Activant.  This document will start with running the report queues and end with exporting price changes to Activant.

Network Access:
  • Open up Network Access to the function screen.
  • Type MMASTER. Hit Enter.
  • When the run time screen pops-up, change Run Time: “End of Day” to “Now”, by hitting ‘N’, then F3. This will start your reports running.
  • To see those reports run, type RABO in the function screen.
  • To see if the reports are done running, keep hitting the display button at the bottom of your screen.
  • Once the RIV, RIH, RDE, and RCL reports have left the screen, you are ready to import your data into Margin Master.

Margin Master:

  • Open Margin Master (to the main menu screen.)
  • Click import data.
  • Click Download Activant files.
  • Find the most recent RIV, RIH, RDE, and RCL files (should be the top files).
  • Check files to import. Then hit ‘Transfer’.

Your files will then start to transfer into Margin Master.
Once they are done running, the close button will read DONE. Click this and it will take you back to the main menu screen of Margin Master. You are now ready to run Margin Master.

Once you are ready to do price changes, you will need to execute your strategy to get the items that need price changes on your screen.

  • You would need to click the Strategy tab at the top of the Margin Master screen; this will give you a drop down list.
  • Manage Pricing Strategy is what you would click to look at all the steps in your strategy.
  • To actually put your strategy into effect, you would want to click on Execute Pricing Strategy.
  • This will start putting your steps into effect and display the items that need a price change on your screen.
  • Once your strategy is executed and the items with price changes are displayed on the screen, you are ready to export these changes out of Margin Master.

To export your changes out of Margin Master:

You will want to locate the button with the printer on it. Clicking this button will bring up the Print screen. The Print Screen gives the user several options. To export the changes to Activant, we need to select Text File, the one at the very top, as the Send To destination. Once this option is selected you will want to click the export button.  You will receive a message stating that your price changes were successfully exported.  At this point you are done in Margin Master & ready to import into Activant.

Network Access:

  • At the function screen, type IPC and hit enter.
  • When asked if using Ace costs, hit Y and enter.
  • Your curser should now be blinking in the field that says Screen ‘E’. Hit TAB once.
  • Your curser should now be blinking in the Change ‘S’ field. You want to change that ‘S’ to a ‘P’ and hit Enter 6 times.
  • This should bring your curser down to the first SKU field.
  • You will want to hit Ctrl F1, or whichever key your import macro was created under, to get those SKU’s to start filtering into the screen.

While the SKU’s are running, let them go. Do NOT close or minimize the screen, just let it run through. If you have more than one store, you will want to do the IPC for each store just to be sure that all the price changes are brought over.

Once the IPC is done running in Network Access, you are ready to start importing those changes into your Eagle system so that you can print bin tags. You will need to open up your Eagle Browser, and on that main applications screen, choose Label Design and Printing Menu.

  • You will then want to choose Item Bin Label, or RBL.
  • In the Bin Label Report Screen, choose option 2 for Price Change File.
If you already have settings saved for the RBL report, click open at the top of the screen and choose your file, then click Run. If you don’t have settings saved in your system, you will want to adjust the settings as follows:

  • Print Setup- Make sure it spools, not prints.
  • Options- Label to use is 2. (Generate File for Label Works/Label Manager)
  • From/To- Make sure the store number matches up to whichever store you are generating the report for.
  • Once those are all set, click Run at the top.
  • Make sure that you run an RBL report for each store that you are doing price changes for.
  • To make sure that the reports are done running, type QUE in the Launch bar at the top of your Eagle Browser screen. Clicking the refresh button will update that screen and tell you when the reports are done running.
  • Once the reports are finished, close out of that screen.
You will now want to choose Print Inventory Labels.

In
  • Label Manager, choose Import.
  • The Label file that you will want to look for will say BL, followed by the date, the number of the report, and the terminal number.
  • Example: BL041201.566. The 01 after the date is not the store number, it is the file number.
  • Depending on the order the stores were run in, will determine the order of the reports.
  • Once you find the right report, click OK.

Once the skus are imported to the screen, you are set to print.

  • To begin printing, choose All/None at the top to select all the skus listed. This should put a check mark next to all the skus.
  • Click Print, choose your bin tag template and click open.
  • Choose what printer you want and the tags will start to print.

Once you have the tags printed, you will want to finalize the changes to make them active in your system. You can either do this right away, or wait till the tags are on the shelf, whichever works best for you. To finalize your price changes, you will need to run an RPC for option F.

  • Open Eagle Browser, if not already open.
  • In the Launch bar, type RPC and hit enter.
  • Open the saved file if there is one. If not, adjust the settings as follows:
  • Print Setup- Spool Options- ‘F’ (update inventory prices from price change file)
  • From/To- choose the store number you are finalizing, or leave blank to update all stores at once.
  • Choose Run.

This will now run that report and finalize the price changes. You will want to re-import new store data to get those new prices updated in Margin Master.
